We were supposed to change hostels today, but we got scammed. The name of the hostel is The Star and there were no hostels or even hotels at that address. So we woke up at 5 in the morning for nothing. The taxi driver brought us back to this hostel where we stayed for the first six days and he too said that such a hostel does not exist. Of course, we demand the money we paid through booking.com back, a little over 28 euros. We spend Christmas and New Year in this familiar capsule hostel in Dubai.

Last night when we couldn’t sleep, we went out and bought three cans of good iced tea, the picture below.

Today life moved at a calmer pace. We took a nap like seasoned professionals, and on our grocery run we picked up the classic trio: juice, bread, and cheese.

Lunch turned into a culinary masterpiece :  boiled noodles and cheese sandwiches ,washed down with juice as if it were a fine wine.

The evening drink round led us into the world of local sparkling water. Three flavors were put to the test: natural, salty-lemon, and ginger. The verdict? Ginger took the crown with ease, natural held its ground in second place, and salty-lemon was left off the  like a disappointed athlete. 

Now it’s time to turn off the lights and wish everyone good night – tomorrow may surprise us, but today we were champions of life’s small pleasures.
